Surgeon Simulator – Influencer PR Kit

bringing Surgery directly into content creators' homes

THE PROJECT

Surgeon Simulator 2 is a is a surgical simulation video game developed and published by Bossa Studios. A follow-up to Surgeon Simulator, initially released in 2013 and popular amongst YouTubers (including Markiplier, Rooster Teeth and Jackscepticeye) due to its chaotic gameplay, there was a seven-year gap between the original game and Surgeon Simulator 2.

To generate excitement for the new game, Bossa Studios partnered with TAKEOFF to create an influencer PR experience that was fun and tied into the game's theme. Expectations for the game were already high, with Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd presenting the game’s launch trailer at Gamescon 2020. Hence, the influencer kit had to be something really special.

THE SOLUTION

The kit was based on a medical freezer to bring a thematic piece of the game directly into content creators' homes. Influencers received a fully functional branded mini-fridge that could be used to store their favourite beverages (rather than body parts).

Inside the fridge was a collection of surgical-themed novelty items, including a blood-spattered branded lab coat, surgeon’s cap and goggles, a functioning stethoscope, a first aid kit tin, a syringe-shaped ballpoint pen, a pin badge, a Bob bobblehead, a surgeon rubber duck, a resin "wet sample" of a human heart, and a Bossa Labs Academy certificate. All the items were hand-packed in branded boxes to create a fun and exciting unboxing experience for the influencers and content creators on stream.

As part of the creative team, I contributed to concept development for several items and was responsible for the branded visuals. This included the design on the mini fridge and creating the designs for the interior packaging and branded items, ensuring the project had a cohesive and impactful presentation.
